Weight Loss

Due to the current FDA shortage of commercial Semaglutide (Ozempic® & Wegovy®) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro® & Zepbound®), compounding pharmacies are legally authorized to provide these medications as a direct copy in compounded form. This capability plays a crucial role in ensuring continued access to these vital medications, significantly enhancing patient care and support.

How Does It Work?

  • Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that works by mimicking the hormone GLP-1, which regulates appetite and food intake. It helps to:

    • Increase insulin secretion

    • Decrease glucagon levels

    • Slow gastric emptying

    • Reduce appetite

These combined effects lead to significant weight loss when used as part of a comprehensive weight management plan.

  • Tirzepatide is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, offering a unique approach to weight loss by targeting two incretin hormones. It helps to:

    • Enhance insulin sensitivity

    • Suppress appetite

    • Reduce food intake

By activating both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, tirzepatide provides a powerful tool for managing weight.

How To Use It?

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are administered subcutaneously (under the skin) in your stomach, thigh, or upper arm once weekly, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without meals.. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use them:

  1. Preparation:

    • Clean your hands thoroughly.

    • Gather all necessary supplies: vial, syringe, needle, and alcohol swabs.

  2. Drawing the Medication:

    • Clean the vial’s rubber stopper with an alcohol swab.

    • Insert the syringe into the vial and draw the prescribed dose.

  3. Injection:

    • Clean the injection site (stomach, thigh, or upper arm) with an alcohol swab.

    • Pinch the skin lightly and insert the needle at a 45-degree angle.

    • Inject the medication slowly and steadily.

    • Dispose of the syringe and needle safely.

  4. Post-Injection:

    • Rotate injection sites with each dose to avoid skin irritation.

    • Monitor for any side effects.
